football...Arguably, the ACC is the best overall basketball conference just as the SEC is arguably the best overall football conference (I'm not talking about a single given year...just in general). IMO, the cut-throat competitive nature of SEC football (and the unrealistic expectation from the fans that goes with it) is the reason you have seen the best college football coaches turning down SEC jobs in favor of jobs at places where it is easier to win over the past few years. Now, the SEC is trending down in football overall because they haven't been able to get the best coaches.

Is this the beginning of the same thing with ACC basketball? Programs like Duke and UNC (much like Alabama in football) won't have a problem getting the best coaches. But how will the rest of the conference fare in hirings? It's way too early to tell (and NC State did land Keatts)...but it is something to keep an eye on.
