It would be nice to see Wichita State bring back football
especially since it experienced a similar tragedy as Marshall. On October 2, 1970, 1 of Wichita State's planes (the "Gold" plane) crashed enroute to a game against Utah State. The "Gold" plane carried the starting players, head coach, and athletic director, as well as their wives, other administrators, boosters, and family. While the "Black" plane carried reserve players, assistant coaches, and other support personnel. Even though the program continued until 1986, I got the sense from reading various newspaper clippings that it never fully recovered from the accident. Maybe the restart of the program will give the school an opportunity to heal an old wound.
