If Wichita State decides to leave the MVC, then there is no

reason the conference cannot survive as a 9 member conference. Even if the conference also lost Northern Iowa, there is no reason the MVC couldn't survives as an 8 member conference. The remaining 8 members are not exactly in high demand among the more prestigious conferences and it is unlikely they would make a lateral move to another mid-major conference. If anything the MVC may have an easier time adding 1-2 member from a neighboring conference than losing 8 members. Something else to consider is the MVC can use the relationships formed through the Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC), which is a separate organization from the MVC, to help add new members to the conference.
