Women's basketball seems to have a trend where 1 programs
dominates until another program takes its place. First there was La Tech Lady Techsters (don't call us Lady Bulldogs). Then there was ODU and its African Connection. After ODU came Tennessee under Pat Summitt (RIP), and now UConn resigns supreme.
Eventually Geno Auriemma will retire (unless he has found the Fountain of Youth) and at that point UConn will take a step back like what happened to the Lady Vols when Summitt retired. At that point the window will be "open" for some other program to become "queen of the hill." Now that program may not have as long of a reign as UConn. Then again it could surpass all the standards being established by UConn now.
