I smile each time people think that Virginia Tech will be left out of the super conferences. Not only did Ken Haines lead this, but Charles Steger our former Virginia Tech President led the University Presidents when they voted in the playoff. That's one of the reasons when people were saying that the Big 12 would over take the ACC (especially when they signed the Sugar Bowl agreement with the SEC) that I was like, not happening. Virginia Tech is looking for multiple things in a conference and we still get side by side, the most out of being in the ACC. Yes the SEC and B1G have bigger TV Chanel deals, but the ACC is very much in a position to be competitive there too if we keep winning in football.

Now I understand why some want to be in the SEC or B1G, but in the ACC we are in the center of our geography, partner often with it's members academically and we cover the largest area in the country...the Atlantic Coast.

This article is an example of how far back Virginia Tech people have been thinking of the new scenario that exist in the future and will expand in the future.
