Thank you. Payouts have been downhill ever since for the ACC.


There's a mindset around here that the ACC is just "out of its league", if you will, when compared to the B1G and SEC. That hasn't always been the case. In fact, that needn't be the case today.

I hope these figures help to reframe the arguments of those who feel this league is just destined to make a ton less dough than the B1G and SEC, or even some Big12 schools.

Now, I get that football is currently 80% of the game, but why is that necessarily the case? College basketball takes up a lot more ESPN airtime than college football. March Madness alone provides a tremendous amount of chatter for its networks. I'm not saying it should be a 50/50 deal, but being the supreme basketball league should count for something when considering TV contracts and payouts. But, I don't blame the SEC or B1G, or even ESPN. It's the ACC's job to MAKE college basketball count for something, as it obviously did in the past.

Anyhow, the ACC is undervalued by so many, when it should not be the case. They've made some serious serious mistakes these last 15 years, but they should not be SO far behind these other leagues when it comes to financial resources.
