WVU was never going to be #12 in 2003 expansion


because of the presidents. You can't pin that on Swofford. Besides, the difference between WVU and BC isn't a treasure trove.

With the ACC's GOR and B12's lack thereof, the ACC has won out despite having one dependable blue blood football program (FSU) versus B12's two (Texas, Oklahoma). Louisville and Pitt B12 adds would have brought WVU into the geographical fold, avoided their expansion shenanigans, and potentially would have created enough incentive to re-up on the GOR. Maybe it wouldn't have but whatever right or wrong the ACC did, it affirmed status in a potential top 4. A move here or there could have netted some more money but at the end of the day it doesn't have football fan support other leagues have and there was no opportunity to change that except WVU who wouldn't have received the votes.
