That reminds me of a conversation I had with my son.

He started running in 7th grade and was nothing special, but he rapidly improved through 10th grade, until he was all-state.

After his 10th grade year, I told him, "You have benefited a lot from just natural physical maturation. If you want to keep getting better, now you'll have to work harder at it, because you're pretty much done growing."

He went in the other direction -- got a job, got a girlfriend, and started developing other interests. :)

It was SO much fun watching him run. I'm really going to miss it, but life goes on. My daughter was an all-state runner last fall as a freshman (9th in the state), so I've got 3 more years of watching her, assuming she keeps running.
