No, just talking about one key rival not FSU, Miami, GT and Clemson in same
division. But each school can have one key rival and that rival should be in the same division. Not a list of great teams with great matchups and put them all in the same division. I'm just saying we can do away with cross-division rivals by placing that one team in your division if they are a true key rival. In VT's case, BC is not such a rival. But if they were such a rival, then they could be placed in the Coastal and we can still do away with cross-division rivals. The ACC needs to take steps to ensure that teams play conference opponents from the other division more often than they do. Doing away with cross-division rivals would allow us to spread those games around to other opponents in the other division. If there are rivalries that are desired every year, that can be solved by putting the teams in the same division. FSU and Miami could be put in the same division for example. Yes, that would mean only one division would have teams in FL. I'm ok with that. A little reshuffling of divisions, while ensuring balance in quality of teams in each division and this can be done. With expansion to 14 teams, and not increasing the number of conference games played, cross-division rivalries just no longer works. Look at how seldom VT plays Clemson and FSU. We play ND far more often going forward than we would if they were an ACC football team and in the ATlantic. [Post edited by wwhokie1 at 04/16/2017 11:59AM]
