The point is UConn moves the needle in NYC.

When UVA played football at UConn last year the game was broadcast on SNY. Comcast Sports Net Mid-Atlantic picked it up to show in Virginia so we could watch, and ESPN3 did as well.

They don't move the needle now in football because they aren't that good. But when Randy Edsall was winning in South Bend and going to the Fiesta Bowl, they did. He's back so we'll see what he can do to return to where he had UConn football ten years ago.

But television in New York City has invested in UConn sports. The question is whether or not the ACC wants to further influence in New York City. The combination of Notre Dame football with Syracuse and UConn basketball will do that. UConn would also create a rivalry to get the Boston market further interested. At one point we said we wanted to be the conference for the northeast. We still have missing pieces. Philadelphia comes to mind.

If the ACC does not want the northeast, then screw it and further strengthen influence in Florida with a UCF or USF.
