Even if Miami and FSU have the South Florida area locked down

I am not sure how they would feel about UCF, USF, or additional non-FL ACC schools gaining a stronger foothold in the other important areas within the state. Once a school gets a stronger foothold, then it will be tougher for FSU and Miami to root them out.

From the ACC's perspective majority of the schools may see this an opportunity for the ACC to increase the number of Tier 2 states within the conference.

Tier 1 - The Big Three (CA, FL, TX)
Most Important Region - Gulf Coast Region
Tier 2 (no particular order) - OH, PA, VA, NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, LA

There may be a couple states (i.e. maybe NJ, maybe TN, etc.) I have missed on Tier 2, but generally those are the states recruiting experts tend to think of in the next group behind the Big Three. It is less likely that the ACC would want to use the 2 spots to add a MS and LA school. However, would the ACC consider adding UAB since the school is bringing back its football program? The ACC wouldn't be adding UAB because it believes UAB could be on par with 'Bama or Auburn. The only reason the ACC would add UAB is so it could give the schools better access to AL recruits and I believe UAB's academics isn't too bad for whatever that is worth. There are enough top level recruits within AL that 'Bama and Auburn can't keep them all every year, so a good number end up out of state. Why wouldn't the ACC want them to sign with an ACC school instead of a school from another P5 or G5 conference?
