In 2025, the first CFP contract, B1G 12 GoR, and ND/NBC contract all expire


unless something changes in the interim, it would be nothing for a P4 to decide its going to have a tournament of its champions. At that point each conference would effectively have 2 teams in the playoff and the ratings of the conference finals would go even higher.

If the prospect of advancing 2 teams to the final 4 is really THAT important, they could in theory forego the conference finals, and seed those 8 teams and not have to add any more games.
