Regional Training Centers

I think every ACC wrestling program (except perhaps Duke) has a version of a RTC attached to the wrestling program. Also, I think almost all major wrestling programs have RTC's. Many mid-level wrestling programs have RTC's. Even Campbell University and Appalachian State has RTC's.

It seems to me like this is an escalation of expenses that make the barrier high for new programs, and in fact, may cause some programs to drop wrestling due to the expense.

I realize that no program can remain competitive if they discontinue their RTC, but it seems to me like the RTC concept will eventually kill wrestling for all but a handful of major schools, the ones with big dollars behind them.

I don't know what the answer is, but the RTC concept concerns me. I think it may be bad for wrestling in the long term.
