The contracts are much different, but that will
likely affect the P-5 in the future also. Houston, UConn, Boise and others will not simply go Gentle into the goodnight. They will fight and claw to stay within reach of the P-5 and may sue if they aren't allowed access. This isn't like the separation in the 70's, much more money is involved and universities have more at risk. UConn and Boise are not like a Chicago st or Savannah St(Who just dropped to D-II).
It's not going to be that simple, a lot is at risk for these universities. P-5/4 will always have the advantage but they can't simply tell Boise, SDSU or UCOnn, Navy ect to go away. The P-5 needs the G-5, needs them for games and for the appearance of inclusion.
