I work at home going through my phone as a hotspot


7x24 days a week.

The problem recently is all the embedded videos with autoplay etc. that eat up your bandwidth.

We do not stream movies here. I have one other person surfing the net. I use avg. 1 GB a day.

Now, if you just VPN, do your work, and do not open up a browser, then you should be more than fine. 8 years ago I survived on 3 gb working at home.

I would test your VPN connection over the phone. Some VPN you have to specify the connection you will go over even if you are already connected to your phone.

The biggest thing for you is getting enough bars on your phone to get the throughput you want. I find a minimum of two bars and you may want to bring some tape. You tape the phone on a window to get the bars needed.
