Regarding your first thought.

Just because it hasn't/cannot be proven that criminal activity occurred, does not mean it didn't occur. A UNC assistant coach was "the Black Santa" and has admitted to being elbows deep in the agent angle. I do not think criminal prosecutions will occur, but that's merely the result of there not being enough evidence. Anyhow, I'm pretty dang sure Swofford knew of such "illegal" activities. I'm sure he maintained SOME plausible deniability though. But, anyone at least halfway involved with that program knew in the back of their minds such shady stuff was going down.

And this does not even get into the fraud involved with things like no-show classes and the likes. That stuff is ALL borderline illegal. Haven't some students already began to sue?

And with regard to Raycom, I would think there's some collusion that was going down. did the guys in the room "blindly following" Swofford's advice know about his family/crony connections with Raycom? Was everyone in the know about that? That's collusion. However, I think even if those guys were ticked, which I'm sure they were/are, they're at a place in which pushing the issue would only embarrass themselves and their schools.
