Ah, the old "absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". problem is


the legal standard is proving presence. with very, very few exceptions, there is usually no legal requirement to prove absence.

re: paying players, I think some fans get confused about "legality". There is an old NCSU website headline about Blake making "illegal" payments to UNC players and the NCAA is investigating.

So legality in this case is within the context of NCAA rules, not actual laws. The NCAA (a non-profit organization) has no authority to investigate violations of law. That belongs to law enforcement officials.

Whether you hide it or put videos of it on facebook, paying players to attend your school is not illegal. It can get you barred from the NCAA, but you will not have a criminal record.
