Chem, describe the anti-trust case you see. I can't see it, but I'm no lawyer. When the Big 12 disappears, consider the redisposition of those schools from the viewpoint of two of the stakeholders: the TV networks and the national advertisers who buy ads on college football programs. I think the reason that the Big 12 is cooked is because those ad buyers don't need/want schools like Iowa State, Texas Tech, etc. in order to reach their audience. For ESPN/Fox to continue paying P5 money to the lesser schools in the Big12 just inflates the prices they need to charge for ads. If they have Texas and Texas A&M, why do they need TCU, Texas Tech, Baylor? The other four conferences have superfluous teams, as well. But the Big 12 is the only one that is weak enough to be dismantled. The TV folks have likely made it known to Texas and Oklahoma that the P5 paydays are over if they stay in the Big 12. Most of the Big 12 schools are living-out their final five years as P5 competitors.
