8 different pitches is a very good thing. Movement is just as important as location and speed. Softball pitchers always throw more pitches than in baseball.

I played a lot of FP Softball as a catcher for my uncles who were all pitchers. So when you say fastball understand there are 5 different fastballs. A riser, drop, cut inside, cut outside as well as a straight fastball.

Add to that a palm ball (changeup that moves down), a straight change-up, curve, knuckle curve, screwball, & even a knuckleball (more of a changeup).
