Doesn't there have to be profit before there is sharing?

All I've read is between 45 and 50 million dollars that espn has lost in the 5 years of the long horn network.So until there is profit the contract is a moot point.
But this is espn's baby and they will have to live with it. The long horn network destroyed a very good Big 12 conference and has put some other schools final destination in doubt.
