Re: SEC Network is the King of College Sports Networks.

The evaluation figure is pretty meaningless since BTN and the SEC Network will not be sold. What matters is the payout and profitability of the networks. The SEC Network has lost subscriptions and those are likely tied directly to ESPN and there is nothing the SEC can do about that since they don't own any of the network. Thus, as ESPN continues to lose subs, so does the SEC Network.

I would be interested in knowing how many subs BTN has lost, but in the last fiscal year they paid out profit sharing among all 14 conference members. I know in the future they plan to sell their digital rights directly from BTN.

I know BTN plans to sell direct to consumer options in the near future.

Neither network is going to go away, but as the old model for TV revenue dies off, a new method will be born. Thus, a Kansas basketball to the B1G is much more appealing in the new models that are coming.
