Re: How relevant will Notre Dame be in 20 years?

In 20 years, I expect that 60%+ of American Catholics will be Hispanic. Just from my observations at my parish, Hispanics from Mexico, Central America, and northern South America made up about 5% of my congregation a decade ago. Today, about 40% of the parish is Hispanic. About 90% of the children are Hispanic. Most of them (old and young) have little interest in American football, most follow soccer. The change in demographics will have an effect not just on Notre Dame, but all college football programs in the next 20+ years unless the NCAA and NFL can get Hispanic immigrants and their children to embrace American football. I would guess that the success of a team like the LA Rams will show us sooner than later if Hispanics become as big a fan of football as they are of soccer.
