I see it as another scheduling alliance/deal

Almost every year between 1978-2012, ND opened the season with games against three Big Ten schools (Michigan, Michigan State and Purdue).

There was supposed to be a deal to play 3 Big East teams a year after 2003, but that didn't happen.

During many seasons, ND played Big East teams Pitt, BC and sometimes Syracuse.

So, in 1987 or 1992, I would not have liked the idea of committing five games a year to one conference, but would see and do see the ND/ACC deal as a "scheduling alliance" like that formerly with the Big Ten and informally with the Big East.

My preference would have been 3 ACC games a year, maybe compromise at 4. 5 games is too much, but nobody asked me.
