One thing that always bothered me.

This is relation to a number of posts below, to many individuals to respond to so I figured I'd start a new thread.

Anyway, many are coming up with thoughtful scenarios about who's in and who's out of the P4 or 4x16 or whatever. And how and when it's all going to go down. It's all geared around making more money (nothing wrong with that of course). But what bothers me is that we sometimes blithely make proclamations like "School X will be left out" or "X, Y and Z won't make the cut" and so on.

But if it's all about money, what is to stop the top 15 or 20 teams from scratching the rest and just becoming their own division? I think the top 15 programs in the country can probably make the case against VT just as the we here on the this board often make the case against Wake, Baylor, Iowa State, BC, et al.

Anyway, I've been around long enough to remember when VT was "the little engine that could" and it was great watching us grow into a fine program. As a result, I like the notion of keeping the door open to the little guy.

This isn't geared toward anyone in particular and is stated without malice. Just something that didn't sit right with me as we contemplate everyone's future, including our own.
