Tim Brando: "Notre Dame discussing joining the ACC"

He joined the Louisville Talk Radio again. Remember he did the same thing a year ago predicting that the ACC would have a network.

He says he's spoken with multiple people, who he would not name, at Notre Dame who have told him that ND and the ACC have had these discussions. He gives a couple of reasons. One is what I have been seeing. Notre Dame is depriving their kids from a chance to win anything. 16-18 year old kids today want the conference championship watch. They want the conference division championship ring. They don't have a clue who Rudy is or Lou Holtz is. All the other teams ND competes with for recruits can tell these kids they can compete for those watches and rings. ND cannot.

The other reason he gives is that the diversity of styles of football across the country are making ND's football schedule almost impossible. The objective of the game today is to get to the CFP in the top 4. Winning a conference is the way to do it. The longer ND watches Clemson and Florida State get there by winning the ACC gives ND cause to say to themselves "What the hell are we doing to ourselves?" They should get into a conference and chart a course to win it. That puts ND in position to get into the final 4. He says he's had this conversation with Brian Kelly.

He says those ND fans that are arrogant about independence have to be baby boomers and up. GenX and below don't care about that. They will support what the kids want, the conference championship watch, the conference division championship ring.

He starts talking about minute 7. Starts talking about the ACC at minute 9. Talks about Louisville before that. Talks about 20 minutes. Good listen because he talks about all the CR stuff. He also says that Texas and Oklahoma have to win multiple national championships in the next 5 years to keep that league together.
