I acknowledged that he does not control the vote. Although I will say, most experts did not get expect Maryland to get a bid, and the chairman said MD got into the tournament 'easily.' Maryland's AD was on the committee. So you can infer that individual committee members do have some ability to influence the vote if they want.

My main issue is this: Almost everyone thinks the committee got it wrong, and there was ample reason to award a host site to Virginia. The committee, and Babcock himself, acknowledged that it was a close call. Even if you say it was a 50/50 proposition, Babcock chose to vote against Virginia's best interests in this case. One wonders as to his motives. It just makes it logical to infer that he treated us as a hated enemy rather than a respected rival. It just seems to be an institutional endorsement of what I always believed was more of a silly, overblown, fan-induced animosity.
