Since VT had a pretty good relationship with some/most
of the ACC school prior to joining the conference, then it could add an interesting dynamic to VT's journey. The longer a relationship has been in place, then the more likely they would support VT to join the conference. If they are a school that doesn't support VT joining the ACC, then it becomes fascinating to see how a school can justify working with VT on the academic/research side and not on the athletic side too. Especially since that is one of the goals of the ACC; having members work with each other on both sides of the house.
Then there is the working relationship with the other former Big East schools. I am not sure how close VT was with them on the academic/research side. At the very least it could add another dynamic to the ACC's goal of having one big happy family. If a school works closely with some and not so closely with others, then it may be more difficult for the schools to build a tight bond with each other especially if the school doesn't have much in common with the "not so closely" schools.
