Well I have thought that the Grand Slam for the SEC would be the following
The Big Ten takes Mizzou which would free up the SEC to take OU, Okie Lite, and Texas. By doing that the divisions would look like this:
East: South Cackalacky, UGA, UF, Tenn, Vandy, UK, 'Bama, Auburn
West: Ole Miss, Miss State, LSU, Ark, Texas, TAMU, OU, and Okie Lite.
From a name brand perspective both divisions would have 5. South Cackalacky, Vandy, UK, both MS schools, and Ark would be the non-name brand schools. From a Playoff perspective it would be tough for the Committee to not select 2 SEC schools every year. Also, it would make it easier for the 4 power conferences (Big XII not included) to become truly regional conferences.
ACC - East
Big Ten - North
SEC - South
Pac 12 (or 16) - West
If the 4 conferences want to break away to form their own association or division level, then they need to create enough separation so any political pressure couldn't stop them from executing the plan. The way I stumbled onto this proposal was by pure accident. I was playing the last NCAA football on PS3 and I decided one day to try to create 4 super conferences to see how it could look and make the Big XII become a G5 (now G6) conference. The reason I did it was because the game was still using the BCS format and I thought it could be a great opportunity to make sure the 4 conferences always had 2 representatives:
Orange Bowl - ACC vs. Big Ten
Sugar Bowl - SEC vs. ACC
Fiesta Bowl - Pac 12 vs. SEC
Rose Bowl - Big Ten vs. Pac 12
Whichever 2 teams ended up in the BCS NCG, there spots could be filled with 2 at-large teams (probably from the G6 conferences). So that is what lead me to going the regional route with the 4 power conferences. Hence how I came up with the SEC's Grand Slam.
