Dail gave up her 1st earned run against Fluvanna in Playoffs.
Fluvanna (12-14) became the first team all season to notch an earned run off the Virginia Tech signee. That occurred in the top of the sixth, when the Flying Flucos scored twice, to narrow Brookville’s lead to 4-2. With one out in the frame, Toria Belew broke up the no-hitter with a bloop single to center. Candice Shaheen scored on a throwing error to third.
Then first baseman Sophia Kershner singled to bring home Belew.
“We didn’t exactly have the regular season we were hoping for,” Kershner said. “So we were definitely pushing ourselves to reach our full potential. Their pitcher was great. I think we definitely could have done more, but I think, for the most part, we left it all out on the field. I’m proud of that.”
Then Brookville exploded for a six-run sixth before Dail closed the game with three-straight strikeouts.
In that respect, she ended the evening just as it had begun. Dail struck out the side in the first and fanned nine of the first 10 batters she faced Tuesday. [Post edited by Ray at 06/02/2017 6:44PM]
