If the ACC invites WVU, then what are VT's reasons for staying in the ACC?

Assuming that VT could still seek an invitation from the SEC, or, with some miracle, to the B1G, why wouldn't VT do whatever it could to move if possible?

If we are stuck in last place in athletic revenues, then the ACC better deliver on the academic side. However, with schools like A&M, Vandy, Florida, Georgia, and Missouri, the SEC is pretty good, and any new additions - I would bet - will be tier 1 public universities at least. VT could boost the overall SEC rankings and might actually be considered a valued member of the conference.

The ACC has top-rated schools (UVa, UNC, BC, Pitt, Miami, Duke, Wake), but few are large, research giant public universities. If academics no longer matter, and assuming travel wouldn't be too onerous, why not grab the cash?
