VT didn't make that kind of hire in football or basketball with its most recent head coaches so your 1st qualification is probably dead before it gets out of the gate. I think 4, 5 and 6 are solid requirements with 2 and 3 gravy if the candidate has those. Just my opinion but, with the savvy Whit has shown with other hires so far and, given that baseball is the family sport, I think people have to be encouraged that the successful candidate will be a good fit and the choice will be the result of an informed opinion as opposed to public preference.
