Happens all the time in coach searches and I am a big fan of this play: Issue an immediate statement that you are not interested in the job. In this day and age that can be done directly or indirectly through sources or social media etc. I love when a coach does that. Really makes a point about being committed to a school. It does not mean that next year or tomorrow they couldn't actively pursue another job but until then it shows strength in the program
