Coastal Plain League game. they are doing well and team is 8 - 2, so far.
in the separate conversations, i let them bring up the coaching change situation. both said that Coach Szefc had called them and spoken with them.
that was what i wanted to hear - first and foremost. and it apparently happened Friday: quick, appropriate timing.
our 757-based pitcher asked if i had heard that a change had been made? and told me who the new coach is. said he liked him , and what he said; and he was favorably impressed. wants to get to know him further - soon.
our nova-based, '17-VT hottest-bat infielder also brought our new coach up when i greeted him, asking me if i had heard about who the new HC is? he continued to say _very firmly_ that: Coach is just what we need. sounded so convincing i wanted to go home, get my glove and head for the Burg.
when i asked about the pronunciation of Coach Szefc's name (since they had heard him introduce himself) they said "schef" like "chef - a cook in the restaurant kitchen."

sounds like he's off to a good start and making good initial impression on the players we already have. :-)
