Actually I don't think he was not fired, I think his contract expired


and he was holding out on signing a new contract because he wanted the Ohio State job. Our AD (I think it was still Moseley) got tired of waiting and signed Charlie Moir who was coach at Tulane. Roy Danforth left Syracuse to replace Charlie and Boeheim was elevated to head coach at Syracuse. And Devoe had no back up plan and was out of a job.
