Actually, it would be tough for almost any smaller private school to make the decision to get involved in bigtime football nowadays.

SMU seems to be trying, and is failing miserably. They've spent a ton of dough on good coaches lately and they suck. Don't think they'll ever have the consistent fan support to do that again.

Miami, USC, ND are obvious exceptions. They do have history and fanbases. Miami fans WILL come out some if they are good. They're still around now, just less vocal. Miami is also just the absolute best of the best talent base in the nation, and it's not really close. FSU and Florida are hours away. They're already in P5 leagues too.

I get that you're joking, but private schools are not wise to ever attempt to get into bigtime football. Such an uphill battle.
