There are 20 million people in Florida growing to 26 million by 2030.

Florida is a hotbed of football recruiting for the ACC, and just about every ACC coach wants to play there as much as possible to get the attention of high school football in the state. The ACC plays in South Florida at Miami and in the panhandle at FSU. We don't have much presence in the center of the state.

The ACC should keep an eye on South Florida in Tampa. USF has only had a football team for 20 years, and they have rapidly grown their presence in the Tampa area. Their football attendance average in 2016 was around 37,000, similar to Maryland who some here think is a big loss. In 2007, when USF was top 10, they had attendance figures around 50,000, similar to NC State.

USF has spent a ton of money on athletics facilities on their campus, and have plans to build a football stadium. They have the room, and there is a museum across the street that the owner of it would like to work a deal with USF to use that property since the museum is moving.

I like some other choices in our region like West Virginia and UConn better, but USF should be a consideration. Florida is big enough in population to support another P5 school.
