I don't buy the crippling debt. Yes, there are many that can't or struggle


to pay it. I also argue that students should have a 10 year plan for post college to see the potential value of their degree prior to embarking on taking on that debt (not sure why they don't, my HS in 1995 certainly laid all of that on the table for us).

Now, with all of that said, if you have a degree in a field such as engineering, construction, or general business you will have opportunities. Will you perhaps have to change industries? Maybe, but that has occurred for some time.

I took on 6 figure debt for my masters degree, pay $1300/month for it to be paid in 10 years and don't regret 1 minute of it. It opened doors to more career growth (being an engineer first assists) with larger paychecks that I would never had the chance to go after w/o it.
