Agree that less judgement rules are needed
I think one thing for sure in our sport is that judgement calls can never completely be removed, but the more clear the criteria the less variance you'll have.
Having never been a ref, but talked to some refs when I was a HS coach they hate to decide the match on penalty points, cautions, or stall calls in OT, which ultimately leads to variance between refs.
Combined with fans get bored watching 2-1 TB2 victories with nothing but escapes (or 1-1 criteria wins in freestyle with nothing but shot clock points) when there's an opportunity to force more scoring without judgement calls that's a good thing for the sport.
When a winning wrestler backs up and kills clock, the fans lose out on action. However a wrestler will do whatever they can (within rules and good sportsmanship) to win so they absolutely will back away as much as they can without costing themselves the match.
