I just don't see it. what was there, other than MAYBE the fact that they

crushed Vandy, that leads you to repeatedly say "there were reasons [and I particularly note the plural here] to believe they could turn it around"? You keep coming back to that one point, which quite honestly isn't much of a point IMO. As Andy pointed out, Vandy was not a TERRIBLE team, but they weren't anything special either. At the time of our game against GT, Vandy was sitting at 4-6 with wins against MTSU, Western Kentucky, UGA (very nice win, to be sure), and Tennessee St. GT came into our game at 5-4 with wins over BC (barely), Mercer, Vandy, Ga Southern, and dook (barely). Meanwhile, GT had lost to the "good" teams on their schedule (clemson, mia, pitt, unc) by an average of 16 points per game.

So again, I ask the question: what part of that resume, without looking at what happened with Vandy and GT AFTER our game, would have /should have made the rest of the world think "why the heck is VT a 14 point favorite?"
