I'm old now, so I got very nice calls from my kids. No more macaroni and glue spray painted cards. No more cast off Dad ties stuffed with sand and made to look like snakes. Just heartfelt love, you know, for the effort. It is always so nice.
But my wife upped her game like a champ. Steak and scallops, rice and asparagus with some nice Cab, that just melted me into the moment.
Why, I asked?
"Because you are the father of my children".
It's a good gig, by God. The best ever.
Happy Father's Day.
