Came close to not having the champ in the NCAA this year.

But still pulled it out with UNC squeaking by. The fact that we don't allow the 5th place team to complete in the ACC tournament almost guarantees that the champ will go to the NCAA tournament.

So, I would rather we just encourage someone to join up from within and wait it out. It will happen sooner or later. Va Tech starting Men's Lacrosse makes a ton of sense, esp considering how good our recruiting out of Nova would be (see Penn St this past year. That would be us in a few years). Otherwise, Louisville has strongly considered it in the past. Or who knows, maybe Georgia Tech?

For Utah, they will play Air Force and Denver every year no problem regardless of conference, so they are OK for a schedule. I doubt the Big Ten wants them as a member, since they have six already and Utah is far away. The ACC will probably pass, IMO. The Big East doesn't need them either. The BE could pick up teams like Loyola from the East if they wanted. My guess is that they will get in the SoCon because of Air Force. That, plus Denver games should be enough to give them a good start.

Maybe if they are lucky in a decade or so, the Pac-12 will have enough teams, along with Denver and Air Force, to start a good league in the West.
