Is there a correlation between the rise and fall of Zima . . .
and the rise and fall of Virginia football?
I've been around long enough to know that once upon a time, the Hoos could play a reasonable game of football; Herman Moore, the Barber twins.
The Zima was flowing. But then the tap of clear malted beverages dried up. Virginia co-eds were confused??? And the football disappeared.
Yes, there were rowing and lax national championships that made them think they still mattered. A few high profile football recruits still signed with UVa, likely lured by a secret Zima stash the athletic department used at its recruiting gigs.
But like Zima, Hoo football is a forgotten thing of the past.
Things to ponder on a beautiful summer day . . . particularly whether the return of Zima can rebuild the glory days.
