Interesting. I just assumed Gardner decided he'd had enough on his own.


I saw him at Dresser's "Boot Camp" in Richmond, the summer after Dresser was hired. Gardner was easily our highest ranked recruit at the time so I was watching him. He was low energy, I figured he was not feeling well.

That boot camp is how and why I met Coach Dresser - he needed a local HS to host it and I hooked him up with my son's wrestling coach.

Gardner didn't even finish his first season as I recall.
