VT and UVA would have never ended up in B1G together


Then more than now the B1G wanted to expand its footprint to grab more carriage fees. It would have made zero sense to take 2 new schools from the same state. You don't need 2 schools to shore up a market in 1 state. They would have taken UVA and gone after UNC. If UVA left, UNC would probably have bolted too - assuming FSU and Clemson had already left. We would have been in the SEC, as the 11th most populous state, and the NOVA/DC market.
