Richt had seven top ten finishes in 14 years
including a #2 and #3 final ranking with Sugar Bowl wins. Add on another four top 25 finishes and you've got Georgia finishing ranked 2/3 of the time.
I am not sure how you define a 'great team', but if VT finished in the top ten, we'd be calling it a great VT team.
You could argue that Georgia should have done more with its resources and talent, and I would agree, but Richt did face off every year against UF during the Tebow years, Auburn during the Newton years, and GT during their best years under Johnson, and not to mention LSU and Alabama less regularly during their dominant runs.
