Not sure I see it that way. First, there is no upside for Swofford or the ACC to apply any public pressure on ND. So they haven't. It won't work (and would be counterproductive) and second, there is no compelling reason to- the Conference is fine and stable right now. Both sides can afford to play a long game...should they choose.
That said, I believe that the ND fan base and its power players continue to incrementally get more comfortable with the idea of conference football alignment as time goes on. And maybe more important is that the Old Guard won't be in control forever.
Who know when the tipping point will come or if it will come. But my guess is if it happens, we'll all one day open the newspaper and there it will be- no drama leading up to a "decision". There are a lot of ways to skin the cat financially and make sure all sides get equitable treatment.
Personally I think ND will be a full time football member in the ACC in the next 15 years with 50% certainty - LOL. In better words, no one really knows.
