Absolutely embarrassing numbers for VT alumni

Just embarrassing. You can place part of the blame on VT's weak conference schedule (limp UVa, always with the Dukes and Boston Colleges of the world, and too-frequent turns with Wake), and more on the annual ECU tilts. WVU gets either Texas or Oklahoma every year. VT has no guaranteed yearly big game.

I just don't get it. VT fans make a lot of noise about being good fans, and complain as loudly as anybody when we lose, but they are incapable of backing it up with cash. We seem to be masters of talking the talk and that's all.

If anything argues for moving out of the ACC, these numbers do it. Our supposed conference nirvana - the ACC - doesn't seem to be enough motivation for Hokies to donate. Add to that the huge disparity in payouts, and you've got yourself a real problem.

How else to fix the problem? Even if CJF wins a conference title can't we expect Hokies to jump off of the bandwagon when we go 8-4? Will a bump in ACC payouts close the gap enough so that we stay in the neighborhood of the B1G and SEC, or even the B12?
