You are right about there being some jobs that could open. Having said that, the question is what are the goals coach has for himself and his family and can he accomplish them in Blacksburg. Just talking hypothetically here but, how much difference is there between making $3 or $4 million a year compared to $7 to $10 million? Obviously there are absolute dollar differences but, both amounts provide generational wealth over the typical contract term. Seems to me that there are plenty of other factors including quality of life, realistic chances to compete at the highest level, expectations and personalities associated with the institution, administration and fan base, etc., etc., that take on much more consideration when the income level reaches a certain threshold. Note I am not saying that some absolute dollar difference cannot be a decisive factor, it is just my opinion that at some point compensation levels probably mean more in ranges than absolute terms depending upon other individual or family goals.
