More students want to go to basketball games than are student seats.

Selling season tickets for basketball games lock out students that don't get them. Putting the tickets into a lottery for all students enables even more students to attend throughout the season. There are pros and cons to selling tickets. UVA doesn't sell student season tickets for any sport. The Student Fee portion of that USN&WR revenue list for UVA is the substitute.
