To me, the point is that football fans, or groups of people in general, tend to circle the wagons and justify things committed by members of their group that they would totally condemn if done by members of a different group. Saying "what THEIR guy did is way worse than what OUR guy did" is part of that way of thinking.

If Vick had attended PSU, or WVU, or UVA and had the exact same career/life arc he's had, we would be absolutely crucifying any of those schools on this board for inducting him into their HOF. Human beings have to get over this "us vs. them" mentality and look at situations outside the lens of "it's my tribe, so it's OK".
